Immobilization of vaginal Lactobacillus in polymeric nanofibers for its incorporation in vaginal probiotic products

چکیده

Abstract Probiotic products require high number of viable and active microorganisms during storage. In this work, the survival human vaginal Lactobacillus gasseri CRL1320 rhamnosus CRL1332 after nanofiber-immobilization by electrospinning with polyvinyl-alcohol, storage was evaluated. The optimization bacterial immobilization conditions using bioprotectors (skim milk-lactose glycerol) oxygen-excluding packaging carried out, compared lyophilization. After electrospinning, a higher rate L. (93%) to (84%) obtained in nanofibers, cells (>107 colony-forming unit/g) two probiotics nanofibers stored at -20°C up 14 days. an excellent strategy extend shelf-life (up 1.7 × 108 CFU/g) 4°C 360 days, no addition bioprotectives, resulting similar freeze-dried-cells. successfully incorporated into polymeric hydrophilic mean diameter 95 nm. composite materials were characterized terms morphology, their physicochemical thermal properties assessed. Nanofiber-immobilized maintained inhibition urogenital pathogens. Thus, nanofiber-immobilized can be included probiotic prevent or treat infections.

The in vitro activity of vaginal Lactobacillus with probiotic properties against Candida.

Lactobacilli, the predominant vaginal microorganisms in healthy premenopausal women, control other members of the vaginal microflora and thus protect against bacterial vaginosis and urinary tract infections. It has been claimed that some lactobacilli are also protective against Candida vaginitis. Little is known, however, about the mechanisms by which these lactobacilli can control vaginal popu...

Colicin E2 Expression in Lactobacillus brevis DT24, A Vaginal Probiotic Isolate, against Uropathogenic Escherichia coli

Novel therapeutic approaches are needed to combat the urinary tract infection in women. During menstruation elevated protein concentration and increase in oxygen and carbon dioxide concentrations with decrease in vaginal Lactobacilli all together contribute to urinary tract infections. Lactobacillus species are a predominant member of the vaginal microflora and are critical in the prevention of...

Antibiotic Susceptibility of Potentially Probiotic Vaginal Lactobacilli

OBJECTIVE To study the antimicrobial susceptibility of six vaginal probiotic lactobacilli. METHODS The disc diffusion method in Müeller Hinton, LAPTg and MRS agars by the NCCLS (National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards) procedure was performed. Due to the absence of a Lactobacillus reference strains, the results were compared to those of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC29213. Minimal In...

Effect of iron on the probiotic properties of the vaginal isolate Lactobacillus jensenii CECT 4306.

The vaginal microbiota of healthy, fertile women is dominated by lactobacilli. As a defence mechanism, these bacteria produce H₂O₂ to discourage colonization of the vagina by undesirable micro-organisms. In particular, Lactobacillus jensenii CECT 4306 is a strong producer of H₂O₂ and has been found to protect itself from the bactericidal effects of this compound through the activity of extracel...

Probiotic Lactobacillus dose required to restore and maintain a normal vaginal flora.

Forty-two healthy women were randomized to receive one of three encapsulated Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 plus Lactobacillus fermentum RC-14 probiotic dosage regimens or L. rhamnosus GG by mouth each day for 28 days. However, the vaginal flora, assessed by Nugent scoring, was only normal in 40% of the cases, and 14 patients had asymptomatic bacterial vaginosis. Treatment with L. rhamnosus GR-1/...
